This project is the perfect community-building activity for your class during November. It connects the individual with the group using tessellations, and it has a ton of “wow factor” when complete. It’s fun for kids and easy for you as the teacher.
Students will write what they are thankful for on the turkey tessellation shape created by Art with Jenny K. Once their piece is complete, it will get cut out and assembled into a tessellation mural/poster/bulletin board display/door decoration with their classmates. Regardless of where you hang it, you’ll have a meaningful display of all that your students are thankful for!

This turned out so beautiful when it was completed! My students enjoyed writing what they were thankful for and coloring the turkeys.
I love love love this for showing tessellations! It fits right in with my curriculum around thanksgiving time so it is perfect! We spend a day getting ready for thanksgiving, sharing things we are thankful for and also learning about what a tessellation is! I love the different options for coloring in too! Gives the kids a lot of flexibility with how they want to complete it. Highly recommend!
