The art activities in this resource are designed to complement any lesson about Joy Harjo, Native American studies/celebrations, and poetry units/celebrations.
Recommended for any grade or discipline as there are 2 poster options available–coloring (for lower grades) and drawing (for older students/art students). There are 30 pieces in this poster, each piece fits on a regular 8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper. The final poster is approximately 37″ x 45″ (depending on your printer settings). Once all sheets are colored (or drawn) and cut out, they are assembled to reveal a large, multi-colored collaboration mosaic/poster/mural of Joy Harjo. The poster makes a great classroom focal point and a lasting example of collaboration for your students.
There are also bonus activities included in this product for early finishers or extensions: A Joy Harjo coloring page and Unscramble the portrait activities.
I purchased this poster for our school’s Native American Heritage Month display. My students enjoyed coloring and assembling this poster. It looks great with all the other collaboration posters.
